The ftp prefix is used to access your domain just as you would any normal folder in explorer. The only difference is that you are connecting remotely to a server which holds your information located somewhere other than on your own computers hard-drive.
FILEZILLA is a great free software solution for doing just this. You will however need information provided by your host if you dont already have it.
- You need your host name… normally ftp.’mywebpage.com’
- Your username.. ‘mywebpage.com’
- and your password
Port number if required is generally 21
If you have registered a webpage with us please contact us for ftp login information
A second way to gain access to your domain through ftp is by typing your web address in the windows explorer.
Just type ftp://(then your webpage address) and hit enter. Then type in your web address again (without the www. prefix) and your password… and your good to go!!
